Children need time to build strong academic foundations.
They also need room to discover their voice, explore their ideas, and grow into themselves.
At Fireside Learning Academy, our Day Academy brings these needs together through Morning Mastery and Leadership Labs. Each has a different purpose, but both support the same goal: helping children become capable, confident learners.
Morning Mastery is dedicated time for reading, writing, and math. Children work on the skills they are ready to develop, with guidance that reflects their individual needs.
A child who needs more time with reading foundations receives support and practice. A child who is ready for a new challenge has room to move forward.
Our approach centers on mastery-based learning: building understanding before moving on. Each child’s Individualized Development Plan helps guide that work.
Morning Mastery creates space to ask questions, practice, make mistakes, and experience the satisfaction of “I can do this.”
Leadership Labs give children opportunities to put ideas into action through creativity, collaboration, and meaningful projects.
For K–5 learners, leadership begins with everyday experiences: sharing an idea, listening to someone else, making a choice, or trying again when something feels difficult.
Activities may include creating something together, exploring a question, solving a problem, or sharing a project with others.
Through these experiences, children practice:
🌱 Communicating their ideas and listening to others.
🌱 Working together and considering different perspectives.
🌱 Planning, organizing, and following through.
🌱 Recognizing emotions and navigating challenges.
🌱 Taking responsibility and building confidence.
At Fireside, leadership begins within. Children learn about who they are, what matters to them, and how they can contribute.
Morning Mastery builds skills. Leadership Labs give those skills a place to grow.
A child might practice writing during Morning Mastery, then use writing to explain a project in Leadership Labs. Math can help with measuring materials or planning a design. Reading can spark a question worth exploring.
Learning becomes connected to something the child wants to understand, create, or share.
Our daily rhythm makes room for focused learning, connection, creativity, and discovery.
Both Morning Mastery and Leadership Labs reflect Fireside’s commitment to nurturing the whole child: mind, body, spirit, and leadership.
We want children to grow in knowledge while keeping their curiosity, confidence, and love of learning alive.
